COVID-19 Statement

Body Mind as One’s studio is within Babergh District Council which is placed in Tier 2 High Alert

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know#high-alert

Specifically, for indoor exercise the guidance is:

“organised indoor sport, physical activity and exercise classes will only be permitted if it is

possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with

(or share a support bubble with).

There are exceptions for indoor disability sport, sport for educational purposes and supervised

sport and physical activity for under-18s, which can take place with larger groups mixing”

Two organisations have provided further clarification of the above statement

1. emduk.org (https://emduk.org/important-information-from-emd-uk-on-coronavirus-covid-19/)

Indoor exercise classes and personal training can take place. There is no upper limit on class size, but you must ensure you have 3m by 3m per person for movement classes or 2m by 2m per person for static classes and have divided the usable floor space by 100sq ft / 9 sq m per person for maximum capacity numbers. You must ensure class participants are not gathering together (unless they are in the same household or bubble) – social distancing must be maintained.

If groups of people are attending the class together, that group must only be formed from people within the same household/support bubble. Bubbles must not mix.”

2. BWY.org.uk (https://www.bwy.org.uk/covid-19/)

“Tier 2: Outdoor yoga and indoor yoga classes can continue at venues. The rule of 6 applies to socialising before and after classes. Private sessions are not expressly permitted but appear to be implied. This would apply to clients/students visiting the teacher. There are restrictions on entering somebody’s home for work and to do so for yoga seems to be flouting the spirit of the regulations”

Therefore, the following information is compliant with the guidance for the safety both the class members of Body Mind as One and myself (Janet Drake T/A Body Mind as One).

About the Studio

The Studio occupies two combined units on the ground floor of a Barn, which is also occupied by other businesses and, furthermore, certain facilities within the Barn are used by other businesses on the Estate.

In particular:

  • The hard standing car parking area in front of the Barn is for use by businesses within the Barn.
The grassed car parking area is used by businesses within the Estate.

  • The Barn’s main entrance, the small kitchenette and the two separate toilets (one for ladies and one for gents) are used by all other businesses on the estate.

  • Gents toilet: there is a single toilet (with its own door) and wash hand basin
There is room for one person in the area.
The main door to Gents toilet is left unlocked and ajar

  • Ladies toilet: there is a single toilet (with its own door) and wash hand basin.
There is room for one person in the area.
The main door to Ladies toilet is locked – the key is held in The Studio

  • Directly opposite the main entrance of the Barn are a set of double doors.
The right door opens to the double width central corridor which provides access to the Studio and other business units on the ground floor.

Janet Drake T/A Body Mind as One cannot be held responsible for the cleanliness and hygiene of the shared areas i.e. those that are used by other business & visitors on the estate.  Where possible, and feasible, handles and touch points that may be used by class members may be cleaned during the hours that Body Mind as One is open – a log of such cleaning will be maintained.

However, Janet Drake T/A Body Mind as One will ensure that the Studio and the area in the corridor leading to the Studio: floor, handles, touchpoints, mats, etc. are cleaned between classes – a log of such cleaning will be maintained.
